Q & A with Matt Murphy

What is your favorite color? Dark green.

In a few words, how would your friends describe you? Extremely loyal although somewhat crazy.

In a few words, how would your colleagues describe you? Simply "the man" - you might want to ask them this question...

In a few words, how would your family describe you? Depends on which member of the family you're asking...mom would say intelligent, my dad would say I am dumber than the dumbest donkey (he usually calls it by another name and it isn't mule or burro).

What does your family think you do for a living? Hassle people on the phone for money.

What is your professional background? I graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Ancient History (really relevant) in 1999.  GO TERPS!  Worked as a general manager for a large construction company in Philadelphia.  In 2001 I came back to DC to my new home at Flying Colors and have been living the good life ever since.

What excites you in an average day at FC? I work with all women (and Troy & Ted ) need I say more?!

What attributes from you personal life fall into FC? My desire to have everything structured and organized to an extreme degree.  Although it may look chaotic and haphazard I know where everything is.  Just give me a second and I will pull an expense report out of a bag of fritos!  Order out of chaos describes my desk as well as my life.  Also my uncanny ability to remember people's addresses and phone numbers...somewhat of a human rolodex.

What is your favorite age? 62... free checks from the man woo-hoo!

Who is your best friend?  Best client? Too many friends and I don't want to step on any toes... Let me just say I am sure they know who they are.  Best client would have to be any who pay on time!  Although I do have a soft spot in my heart for all those guys at the VFW.

What is your favorite "tool" at your work? My trusty quickbooks or my archaic adding machine.
