Webcast Information

This Webcast is the first of two professional development opportunities dedicated to language and literacy development in young children who are dual language learners (DLLs) and speak a language other than English at home. Part of the year-long series, Ready for Success: Supporting DLLs in Head Start and Early Head Start, this Webcast will focus on supporting oral language development in children, birth to five.

The Webcast will be divided into four segments: two segments in Spanish with English subtitles, and two segments in English with Spanish subtitles. Each segment will highlight practical suggestions and resources useful to Head Start programs and will include video clips in home and classroom settings.

Topis for Webcast include:

- How do children develop concepts when learning in more than one language?
- What kinds of teacher-child interactions promote oral language?
- How can we support learning if we do not speak a child's home language?
- What can we do to support language connections between home and Head Start?
