Webcast Information

This Webcast is the culmination of the year-long series, Ready for Success: Supporting DLLs in Head Start and Early Head Start. This Webcast will present program strategies for engaging families and parents representing diverse cultures and languages.
A leadership program for Latino parents that builds on their cultural traditions will be highlighted, as well as a community collaboration.

The Webcast will be divided into three segments. Segments will include extensive video clips from classroom settings in urban and rural locations and from a museum science program that partners with a local Head Start.

Topics for the Webcast include:
  • How can programs maximize the use of families’ cultures and languages in the children’s learning experiences?
  • How can music and movement support children’s home language and school readiness?
  • How can family and parent education activities build on the cultural traditions of their communities?
  • How can programs build effective partnerships with community resources to support family and parent engagement?
